The Slicker Jacket Olive

$699.95
Incl. tax

'Slicker' is an old slang term for Oilskins, this jacket is inspired by those featured in many of our catalogues with that name. This version is lined and sees the reintroduction of traditional 'wet wax' back into our collection.

In stock

All Slicker jackets contain an Acme Whistle in the breast pocket similar to that on the original jacket.

PLEASE NOTE: Wet wax can be a little oily to touch initially - it will continue to dry over time and can be re-waxed.

Our model who is 5'10 and 32" waist wears size medium.

Made in Great Yarmouth, Great Britan

Yarmouth Stores have manufactured Oilskin clothing for well over 100 years. Originally oilskin dressing was applied by hand to cotton calico in-house in our factory in Great Yarmouth. It’s documented that in 1953 the factory would produce around 2000 oilskin garments per week. The Yarmouth Slicker takes inspiration from a sailing jacket featured in our 1969 catalogue. This jacket is made using traditional wet wax. It can be a little oily to the touch initially but will dry and age beautifully.

The Slicker has a corduroy lined collar with bound edges, a sturdy brass zip and an extra deep overlapping storm guard. It has two front pockets with storm flaps, a high chest pocket, and a deep inside chest pocket. The waist can be adjusted for fit with an internal draw cord tie. As on the 1969 model we’ve added an Acme Tornado whistle should the wearer fall overboard!

All the Slicker Jackets are sequentially numbered by the maker on the inside label as they leave the sewing room.

This is made using traditional wet wax, it should not be machine washed. We recommend using garment refresher inside and re-waxing every 1-2 years.
